Aims and objectives

The course aims to give the delegates an understanding of their responsibilities and accountability for site safety, health and welfare.

The SMSTS course helps managers and supervisors to:

• Manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions and within the context of their management or supervisory role.
• Develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare.
• Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical and productive.

Course content

The course covers The Health and Safety at Work Act and the regulations relevant to the construction industry. It includes site set-up, CDM, risk assessments/method statements, scaffolding, electricity, excavations, demolition and confined spaces, as well as recent changes in accepted working practices.

Intended for

Project managers, site managers and supervisors as well as proprietors of smaller companies. We are also seeing an increasing number of client-based personnel benefiting from the course.

Why choose this course?

SMSTS is one of the most widely recognised courses for Site Managers and Supervisors. Certificate holders find it easier to prove their skills and many employers insist that all their Site Managers hold the certificate.
