Aims and objectives
The course enables all clinical, non clinical and support staff to receive the same core training to ensure their safety at work, and addresses many issues around patient safety.
It aims to help healthcare employees to understand their complex working environment and the risks facing themselves and the patients that they care for.
The course identifies common hazards and risks and provides guidance in their subsequent management.

The course covers the following subjects in modular form:
• Improving safety performance
• Hazard and risk
• Workplace safety – stress, infection control, fire, hazardous substances, violence and aggression.

This course is intended for all non management clinical and non clinical staff, as well as support staff working in acute care, primary care, ambulance trusts, mental healthcare and nursing homes.
