Course content
The course covers the Work at Height Regulations 2005, assessing scaffolding needs, managing scaffolding, its erection, alteration and dismantling as well as its use by the site workforce, traditional tube and fitting and system scaffolds and scaffold inspection.
Intended for
Personnel with supervisory or management responsibilities for scaffolding.
Why choose this course?
For as long as there has been construction there has been scaffolding. Despite the introduction of a wide range work at height equipment in recent years, scaffolding still remains a major means of carrying out work at height. Its safe erection and use are consequently a significant factor in achieving acceptable safety standards on site. This is fully recognised within the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
These regulations require that work at height is:
•Properly planned,
•Appropriately managed and supervised, and
•Carried out in as safe a way as is possible using the best work at height equipment for the circumstances.
This translates to a need to ensure that scaffolding is correctly selected, erected, used and managed if the workforce is to remain safe. To this end those with responsibility for scaffolding must feel confident in their abilities to assess access requirements, detect faults in and manage the safe use of scaffolding.
