Incident Response Co-ordinators Training Course
Aims and objectives
This course aims to give employees, chosen to act as Incident Response Co-ordinators, a detailed understanding of their role in a fire incident, as well as their role in maintaining proactive day-to-day fire safety measures.
On successful completion of this course delegates should be able to:
• Act in a pivotal role in the event of a fire incident, co-ordinating evacuation and emergency procedures
• Identify fire hazards in the workplace
• Actively participate in maintaining fire safety standards
• Compile and maintain fire safety/incident plans and information
• Manage fire wardens and first aiders and draw valuable information regarding the fire/emergency incident and how to process this information and act accordingly
• Liaise with emergency services
Course content
This course covers:
• National statistics – the true cost (fire damage, financial costs, business disruption and human costs)
• Overview of fire risk assessment
• Workplace fire safety standards
• Identifying workplace fire hazards
• Checks and balances – the way things should be (fire drills, fire detection and alarm, training, extinguishers and signage)
• Fire emergency plans – the golden hour (key information, key people and key tasks)
• Compiling an incident pack (site plans, evacuation routes and key/high risk areas)
• Co-ordination of fire wardens and first aiders
• Emergency equipment including first aid
• Movement of people
• Compiling relevant information
• Liaising with emergency services (incident information, missing persons, injured persons, high risk areas and control points)

This course is intended for those persons who have previously trained as fire wardens and who will be required to co-ordinate activities during a fire and emergency situation.
